Commercial LED Sign Conversions and Lighting Retrofits Across Florida
Still running fluorescent or neon signs? You are paying too much for electricity and your signs probably look dimmer than your competition. Highmark converts commercial signs and lighting to energy-efficient LED across the entire state of Florida, and we handle the utility rebate paperwork for you.
Save Money and Look Better with LED
If your commercial signs or exterior lighting still run on fluorescent tubes, HID lamps, or aging neon, you are spending significantly more on electricity than you need to. You are also looking at signs that have gotten dimmer over time, signs that flicker or have dark spots, and signs that cost more to maintain because replacement parts for older lighting technology are getting harder to find and more expensive to buy.
Highmark Lighting and Signage provides professional LED conversion services for commercial signs and exterior lighting systems across Florida. We handle the complete process from the initial energy audit through installation and utility rebate application. Our LED retrofit projects typically reduce sign and lighting energy consumption by 50 to 70 percent while dramatically improving brightness, color consistency, and long-term reliability. LED conversions are not just about swapping one light source for another. The engineering matters. LED modules have different thermal characteristics than fluorescent or neon, and that affects how they perform inside a sign cabinet. Driver selection affects dimming capability, power factor, and lifespan. An improper LED installation can create hot spots, uneven illumination, or premature failure. Our technicians understand these factors because LED retrofits are a core part of our daily work, not something we do once a month.
For Florida clients, there is an additional financial incentive. FPL and Duke Energy both offer commercial rebate programs for LED upgrades that can offset a significant portion of the conversion cost. The rebate application process requires specific documentation, before-and-after energy calculations, and proper submission. We handle all of that paperwork. Many of our clients find that between energy savings and utility rebates, the LED conversion pays for itself within 18 to 24 months.
What We Convert to LED
We retrofit every type of commercial sign and exterior lighting fixture to LED technology:
Channel Letter Signs
Convert fluorescent or neon channel letters to LED modules. Improved brightness, even illumination, lower energy consumption, and dramatically longer lifespan. Works with front-lit, back-lit, and halo-lit configurations.
Cabinet and Box Signs
Replace fluorescent tubes inside illuminated cabinet signs with LED modules or LED tubes. Eliminates the flickering, dark spots, and yellow tinting that comes with aging fluorescent lighting.
Pylon and Monument Signs
Convert internally illuminated pylon and monument sign faces from fluorescent to LED. Improved visibility from the road, especially at night, and significant energy savings on large multi-face signs.
Parking Lot Lighting
Retrofit HID and metal halide parking lot pole fixtures to LED. Better light quality, instant-on capability (no warm-up time), and energy savings of 50 to 75 percent per fixture.
Wall Packs and Flood Lights
Replace HID wall packs, exterior flood lights, and security lighting with LED fixtures. Improved coverage, better color rendering, and reduced energy and maintenance costs.
Under-Canopy and Soffit Lighting
Convert gas station canopy lighting, building soffit lights, and covered walkway fixtures to LED. Brighter, more even illumination with lower energy consumption.
Highmark provides LED retrofit services in every Florida market. We have completed LED conversion projects in Jacksonville, Daytona Beach, Orlando, Tampa, St. Petersburg, Lakeland, Sarasota, Fort Myers, Naples, West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Gainesville, Ocala, Tallahassee, Pensacola, and communities throughout the state. For property management companies and multi-location businesses, we offer portfolio-wide LED conversion programs with phased scheduling and consolidated reporting. Converting all of your signs and lighting across multiple Florida properties at once maximizes your utility rebate potential and gets every location to the lower energy cost baseline faster.
Our LED Conversion Process
Step 1: Free Energy Audit
We visit your property and document every sign and lighting fixture, including the current light source, wattage, and condition. We calculate your current energy consumption and show you exactly what LED conversion will save.
Step 2: LED Product Recommendation
Based on the audit, we recommend specific LED modules, drivers, and fixtures for each application. We select products based on performance, warranty, and compatibility with your existing sign structures.
Step 3: ROI Calculation
We calculate the return on investment including energy savings, maintenance savings, and available utility rebates. You see the payback timeline before you commit to the project.
Step 4: Permitting
When the LED conversion involves new electrical work or sign modifications that require a permit, we handle the application, inspection scheduling, and close-out with the local building department.
Step 5: Professional Installation
Our technicians remove the old lighting components and install the new LED modules, drivers, and wiring. Every installation includes proper thermal management, waterproofing, and electrical connection.
Step 6: Testing and Calibration
After installation, we test illumination levels, color temperature consistency, and overall brightness. We make sure the sign looks right during the day and at night before we consider the job complete.
