Retail & Shopping Centers
From a single storefront channel letter installation to a full shopping center pylon update, Highmark handles retail signage projects of every size across Florida. Permitting, installation, and ongoing maintenance — all from one company.
Retail Signage That Gets Noticed and Gets Permitted
Retail signage is the first thing a potential customer sees before they ever walk through your door. Whether it’s a channel letter sign on a strip mall facade, a tenant panel on a multi-store pylon, or a complete wayfinding system for a regional shopping center, the quality of your signage directly impacts foot traffic and brand perception. A crooked sign, a dim sign, or no sign at all sends a message — just not the one you want.
Highmark Lighting and Signage installs and services commercial signage for retail businesses and shopping center properties across Florida. We work with individual retail tenants who need their storefront sign installed right the first time, property management companies responsible for maintaining signage across entire shopping center portfolios, and national retail chains rolling out consistent brand signage to multiple Florida locations. One of the most common frustrations retail clients face is permitting. Florida’s sign permitting process varies dramatically by municipality — what flies in Jacksonville may get rejected in Coral Gables. Size restrictions, illumination rules, setback requirements, and historic district overlay zones all create obstacles that can delay a store opening by weeks if the permits aren’t handled correctly. Highmark manages the entire permitting process in-house. We know the codes, we know the offices, and we know how to get your sign approved on schedule.
For shopping center owners and property managers, we offer ongoing maintenance programs that keep every tenant sign on the property looking sharp, illuminated, and code-compliant. Our service trucks carry common LED modules, drivers, and mounting hardware — most repairs happen in a single visit without a return trip.
Highmark serves retail clients statewide from our Port Orange headquarters. Our active retail sign markets include Jacksonville, St. Augustine, Daytona Beach, Orlando, Kissimmee, Lakeland, Tampa, St. Petersburg, Sarasota, Fort Myers, Naples, West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Coral Gables, Gainesville, Tallahassee, Pensacola, and every market in between. Whether your project is one sign on one store or a rollout across 30 Florida locations, we handle the logistics, permitting, and installation with the same level of attention.
Our team has the background and experience to handle complex jobs, such as the following:
Site Survey
We visit the location to measure the facade, assess structural mounting conditions, check electrical availability, photograph existing conditions, and note any landlord or property management requirements that affect sign placement.
Permitting
We handle the complete sign permit application in your municipality — site plans, sign elevation drawings, electrical permits, and any landlord or HOA approvals required. We follow up until the permit is issued.
Coordination
We coordinate timing with the fabricator for sign delivery, with the property manager for access and scheduling, and with you for any installation preferences or store opening deadlines.
Professional Installation
Our licensed crews install the sign using our own equipment — bucket trucks, aerial lifts, or scissor lifts depending on building height. Electrical connection, illumination testing, and final leveling included.
Final Inspection
We confirm the sign is level, properly illuminated, securely mounted, and meets the approved permit drawings. Photo documentation provided.
Permit Close-Out
We close the permit with the local building department, ensuring your sign is officially approved and on record. Warranty documentation delivered.

Our skilled technicians can solve complex access problems where conventional methods are impossible, impractical, or too costly. Once a solution has been identified, they have the capabilities to carry out a wide range of tasks, from inspections and installations to painting and repairs.
Our composite crews include qualified personnel in multi-disciplined trades, in-house engineers, and experienced rope technicians who are certified.
Their certifications prove that the tradespeople you’ve hired can safely use rope access cleaning, maintenance, and repair methods, which are both environmentally friendly and minimally disruptive.
The certified tradespeople can start and finish projects more quickly than those who rely on traditional access methods. Since there is no bulky scaffolding to set up and take down, the total spent on a specific scope of work is reduced and all tasks are completed in an expedient manner, reducing overall downtime.
Safety is our number one priority. The rope access techniques we use are safer than traditional methods. Our technicians work in teams and can assist one another if an incident occurs. Their tools are securely attached to their harnesses, so there’s very little chance of a falling tool injuring people on the ground. Their specialized training also includes rescue techniques, and their harnesses reduce the risk of injury from suspension trauma.
Our nearly 8,000 committed staff members are ready to help.
